Bummed with Stitch Fix Box #4 #FashionFriday

It’s been awhile since my last Stitch Fix box.  In fact, it was July that I posted about Stitch Fix Box #3.  So far all of my boxes have been pretty decent; I have yet to keep an entire’s box worth but always get a couple of pieces out of each shipment.  In fact, that Maxi Dress in box #3 ended up being a staple dress I wore a ton the rest of the summer.

This box?  Well.  The items had potential but just didn’t do it for me.  In fact, the necklace is my favorite out of everything and I may just keep it just because.  But maybe I’m being hard on the box.  What do you guys think?  Showcasing all of the items below with thoughts.

Sorry the photos are a bit dark this go-around.  I think the sun was so bright in the window that it was causing a glare.

This first picture is the Andrew Marc Tobie Longsleeve Sweater Dress ($118).  I wanted so badly to like it.  It’s a great evergreen color – awesome for the fall into winter.  But no matter how I changed it up (boots, added the scarf), I just wasn’t digging it on me.

What I did love about it was the Pixley Kaitland Spade Charm Long Necklace ($36).  So I may keep this:

Next were the Level 99 Distressed Straight Jeans ($128).  I immediately pulled them out and thought, there’s noooooo way these are going to fit.  Turns out I was wrong – they were incredibly stretchy and VERY comfortable.  But I just don’t think I can pull off the ripped jeans look anymore.  Where would I wear them?  To my kids’ conservative Catholic school?  To soccer practice? (Cold knees!)  And I certainly can’t wear these to any work function.  Man, I’m so 40.  They’re going back.  Some 20-something out there can wear them happily…

Next up is the Tart Kaylie French Striped Blazer ($128).  I don’t know. What do you guys think?  I thought it looked better on than it did in the box but it’s still just not very me.  And for that price, I feel like I better love it…

Last was this Daniel Rainn Thatcher Short Sleeve Silk Blouse ($78).  It’s a great color for fall and was certainly comfortable.  Works with jeans to dress down, or as they show, with a pencil skirt and heels for dress up.

Overall, not the best box I’ve received.  To be fair, I hadn’t left any sort of feedback whatsoever when I scheduled this box.  You always do better I think when you tell your stylist what you are shopping for or what you may be looking for.

I’ll schedule another box soon because I do like the idea and have had some luck in the past and figure it’s worth a crack at it one more time.  Have you tried Stitch Fix and their online personal shopping service?  It’s $20 to receive a box with your own items personally picked out and then you keep what you want and send back what you don’t want at no cost (return shipping paid for that can go into your mailbox).  You simply pay for what you keep.   This is my Stitch Fix referral link if you do try it – and if you do, please let me know.   I actually really love seeing friends and bloggers post their Stitch Fix boxes.

  1. Hey Whitney, I’ve been trying Stitch Fix since your first post. It’s a lot of fun to get the box every month and it’s so easy to return things if you don’t like them. I think you do need to give them feedback so they get your order right or as close as possible. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Amy! I agree. I haven’t yet left feedback about what I was looking for other than that first box and think I need to invest the time to do that next go-around. Definitely scheduling another box and I do just love getting it in the mail!

  2. I really do like the blouse on you. Has a flowing, graceful contour. The jacket has a nice fitted look and very cute. Vote no on the jeans (same thought as you on the knee holes- age speaking here. Dress, not sure. Best piece the blouse, in my opinion.
