Mom Mixer is an event I co-host in Philadelphia semi-annually with my business partner Colleen Padilla from Classy Mommy. We invite brands to come to our hometown of Philly to showcase their latest products and to meet with our fabulous east coast bloggers. Yesterday I hosted the 2014 Holiday Mom Mixer at the Franklin Institute.
Another Mom Mixer is in the books and I seriously can’t believe I can say that it was our FIFTH Mom Mixer. The night before our very first Mom Mixer, I literally did not sleep. I was so nervous that when we showed up to our event space, I literally thought I might collapse into a puddle thanks to nerves. We’ve come so far, right Colleen?
Thanks to an amazing team of husbands, kids and event planners, I felt like this one was our best yet and I actually sleep the night before the event! This holiday, we hosted at the iconic Franklin Institute in Philadelphia which provided for a great space to allow us to stretch out since we’ve grown a bunch, but also gave bloggers a chance to bring kids and do something fun after the event was over. The Franklin is one of my family’s favorite museums.
Before I dive into posts about specific brands and products this week, I wanted to share a couple of photos from some of our awesome sponsors, the fantabulous bloggers who attended and highlights from the day.
Here’s Colleen and I with our kids. I could not do it without my little inspirations. They are the reason I started Mommies with Style and I feel so very blessed that I am able to do things like Mom Mixer & my blog that allow me to work from home and be there for them.
Also, I most certainly couldn’t plan an event for over 200 people twice a year without the help of my savvy business partner Colleen!
While I’m at it, I’m gonna gush about the bloggers! This is a photo of a bunch of ladies from the Philly Social Media Moms group. Without the support of amazing bloggers like these, our event would not be possible.
Our title sponsor was CVS. They brought an assortment of Gold Emblem snacks & sweets plus a ton of great holiday gifts! My favorite (and Cole’s) was the Gold Emblem Truffles. They have several different flavors too which are all amazing and yes, I know that from having tasted every flavor! They are decadent!
And for sure, a huge hit for the Moms and girls who attended was our beauty sponsor, Spaghetti Headz. How fun are these twisty hair pieces that you can put into your hair really easily! HAIR BLING! I was actually really surprised at this product. The material is pliable (I thought it would be a hard plastic) and it literally slips into your hair with a twist of your hair. It comes out with a gentle pull.
Okay for this photo, I have to admit, I was scared. Nate is holding a Wow Cup, which is a no-spill sippy cup. There was apple juice in the cup and he’s holding it upside down in the picture. No spillage – it really works! Kids were drinking out of their Wow Cups all day long and my boys have both used theirs today! No joke!
Just Play Toys came & I’ll highlight some of their cool toys later on but I was just totally enamored with their Care Bear display. I still totally remember when Care Bears came out and I was “too old” to really get one. My sister (5 years younger than me) got one and I wanted one so badly! (Pretty sure my parents caved and eventually got me one too). I kind of still want the Irish shamrock one and I’m 40 😉
Hasbro had a popular booth. As you can see from this photo, Nate was all about playing with the Transformer toys! Both of my boys are BEGGING for a Grimlock toy this holiday so I’m sure it’ll have to be on their list as they don’t ask for many toys these days. But these Transformer Grimlock toys are pretty awesome for boys and hot for the 2014 holiday season.
Truly, it was an amazing day. Other brands included Stride Rite, Wicked Cool Toys, Mixed Bag Designs, Amazing Zhus, Zipz Wine, Stella & Dot and Rodan & Fields. Thanks again for all the support from everyone (you know who you are!). I’ll be sharing more photos and blog posts about various awesome products for the holidays in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out!
Looks and sounds like it was a fun, amazing , and successful event!
