It’s been hard to keep up with this blog the way I did for years in recent months; other social media jobs have me busy and definitely fulfilled so it’s a good thing! But I promise I’m not going anywhere! While I may be posting less, I’m still here all and will always covet my little space here on the Internet.
Look for more to come from my niece Abbie too, who will continue to posting college style and 20-something thoughts & musings from her college dorm room as the year goes on.
So for today, just a random chat of what’s been going on!
It’s been a slight rocky start to 2017. As of this morning, I’m on day 9 of the Whole30 and that piece of the New Year is going great. But I spent a couple of days last week sick (I never get sick!), only to have my 10 year old end up really sick for the days following. Between Christmas break and that week of having him home, I’m pretty sure I didn’t wear anything other than sweatpants for 2 weeks and barely left the house.
And it’s cold so I’ve been feeling a little blue. But everyone’s off to school today, I’m feeling optimisticas I’m off to an Orangetheory class and then will plug in and get back to the grind.
So Whole30. It’s going great. This second time around has been much easier so far than it was the first time. Maybe because I knew what to expect? For those who are doing Whole30 or interested in hearing more, I’ll paste my meal plan from days 1-8 at the end of this post. I know I really get a lot out of looking at other people’s meal ideas. You can also follow me on Instagram to see some of my meal posts.
Bedroom/Office Redesign. I’m making myself a Wo-Cave. I’m giddy about it. I’ve wanted (needed!) my own work space for years and I’ve never gotten it. If you ask my family where my working space is, they’d all answer different things. The couch, the kitchen table, the dining room table. You name it, I’ve worked there. I move all over – basically wherever there’s quiet.
But I’m working from home almost full time now and it’s time for me to treat what I do like a job. So this early in 2017, I’m doing a total overhaul of our 4th bedroom which up until now served as our guest room/junk-dumping room.
Jon and I took the weekend to purge all.the.things in the closet. We had a filing cabinet that literally had random bank statements and other papers we didn’t need from like 10 years ago. We’re also down to no furniture as I’ve ordered new and we’re re-doing the floors in there.
My ultimate goal is to have a space I just LOVE. A space that’s clean and mine and dedicated for work. I truly feel this will help me be more productive.
Most of the furniture and decor is coming from Joss & Main. I just love everything on that website. The main staples I got for the room include this Demorest Computer Desk:
And the Rena Upholstered Bed, because yah, we’re still going to use the room as a guest room when we do have guests! I’m hoping it all looks okay together. I also painted the room this pretty shade of gray called Colonnade Gray from Shermin-Williams, which I’m really happy with.
I’ve got a few other goodies coming once and I’ll share when I’m done!
The weather
Oh and lastly, it’s cold in Philly. I’ve already been looking at houses on Realtor.com in Florida which I seriously do EVERY DANG YEAR. This may be the soonest into the winter that I’ve done it though. I told Jon – it’s either move or we need a vacation STAT to somewhere warm.
More soon! Here’s those meals for anyone Whole30’ing it with me:
