Oscars-Pics-Day-2b-622.jpgLast week, prior to the Oscars, I checked out Melanie Segal’s Platinum Suite. This first class event was held in a breathtaking penthouse suite on Sunset Blvd. The mood was mellow as the stars mingled and money was raised for Darfur Victims. Celebs like Kathy Hilton, pictured at left, were also given the noteworthy opportunity, to anonymously donate their swag to raise funds for blood diamond victims.
The mood was festive, and there was plenty of yummy chocolate and fine wine on hand courtesy of Cacao Reserve (the high end branch of Hershey’s) and Bottle Notes. Celebs who wanted to delve into DIY winemaking got $400 certificate for grapes from winepod.com. But that was just the beginning…

chimillion.jpg Sponsor Chi was on hand to style celeb hair and sprinkle in real diamond dust. Their security team guarded this flatiron that was encrusted with a million dollars worth of bling. Yes that is (a rare picture of!) me in the glove, holding said instrument. Mustn’t leave any incriminating prints on the flatiron! Chi generously handed out their Chi Rocket hairdryer, Special Edition Bling flatirons, and tons of styling products to lucky celebs. Sadly, I was not allowed to keep the million dollar flatiron.
Jai_Rodriguez.jpg KangaROOS Shoes outfitted celebs with sporty trainers, and Samsonite gave swank gifts of ltd edition Signat attaches from their Black Label line. Casio meanwhile handed out watches and cameras. Kathy Hilton snagged a camera for herself and took a slim red EXILIM S-770 to give to daughter Paris at her birthday dinner party. Meanwhile “Queer Eye’s” Jay Rodriguez scored a mens watch from the new G011 shock line and “Desperate Housewives” Joy Lauren chose a White Baby G “Sweet Poison” watch, exclaiming how cute it was.
Lotus 9 Jewelry was a hit with men and women – in particular the leather cuffs and bracelets appealed to celebs as diverse as Neve Campbell and Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC).
Tinley_black_front.jpg And though there were not so many new moms in the crowd, everyone present, from Penny Marshal to Kathy Hilton, to Sara Rue was blown away by the new line HauteMomsRule by Christine Price. Their truly luxurious and couture diaper/handbags drew praise from every female present and several of the men lingering in their booth to get a better look at the bags and cute tees. Even their denim swag bag for tees was adorable. Keep an eye on this brand!
Cleanup for the event must have been a snap. Dirt Devil was on hand with their clever Kone shaped mini vacs. Of course there may not have been any vacs to spare. That was one goodie that just about everyone seemed to want to clean up on!
