Image and video hosting by TinyPic I recently attended the OXO TOT Cooking for Baby and Me Hands-On Lunch and Demo with Chef James Briscione and writer Brooke Parkhurst. This husband and wife team (who are also parents to a 1 year old daughter) are releasing a new cookbook soon called Just Married and Cooking, also have a website called… justmarriedandcooking.com.

The purpose of the event was to teach us that we could make food for our children and ourselves using OXO’s TOT line — without using fancy kitchen prep equipment (meaning no blenders, etc). They also showed us how to make meals for the whole family by building on ingredients – put a few ingredients together for your children, then add more spices and ingredients to make dinner for your spouse and yourself. And as someone who usually makes one or two dishes for my children and then another for my spouse and I — I thought it was brilliant.

Our assignment was to make our own lunch   — after we enjoyed the delicious appetizers  (shown below Image and video hosting by TinyPic is Sweet Pea Bruscetta with Ricotta and Carmelized Onions). While doing the kitchen prep, we got to play with the OXO TOT Kitchen tools. I am a self taught cook — even though I spent 5 years working in production at the Food Network in the mid to late 90’sand  I own many basic OXO Good Grips tools, but I’d never used the other products they showed us, like the Apple Divider ($9.99), Baby Food Mill ($49.99), Swivel Peeler ($7.99), Baby Food Masher ($11.99) and Ricer. The OXO Tot tools were a terrific quality, just like you’d expect from OXO. Unfortunately, since my infant son, Skylar was so fussy, I didn’t get to cook. But I will be attempting to make some of the delicious recipes below – I’ll post the link as soon as I get it. Here is the link to  some photos from the event.

Menu

Coriander Carrots and Poached Shrimp Salad with Lime Dressing
Organic Chicken Breast with Roasted Garlic, Brown Butter and Balsamic Vinaigrette, Roasted Autumn Vegetables and Arugula
Spiced Pear and Apple Gratin with Pecan Crumble and Vanilla Ice Cream

Thank you to OXO for providing samples of their fabulous products.
