As we gals know, a good haircut is worth it’s weight in gold. Unfortunately, the haircuts I’ve been personally giving my oldest child are not worth much (because I do a terrible job). So I was thrilled to be invited to an event at Cozy’s Cuts for Kids, a children’s hair salon and toy boutique in New York City, owned by Cozy Friedman. Can’t make it to one of their three locations? Their So Cozy Line of fabulous hair products for kids are available online.
The salon was brightly decorated and very child-friendly. My son was agog at all the toys on the shelves (in a range of reasonable price points). The stylist who cut my son’s hair, Christine, was very friendly and reassuring to my hyper-sensitive child. Ben got to sit in a red racecar chair and watch a Dora video. Nintendo 64 is also available. Christine used a scissor to trim his hair (and fixed all the mistakes I had made). Then she brought out a trimmer to neaten his locks. Normally, my son would have freaked out — but Christine took the time to show him how it worked and he was able to handle it. When he was finished, he was offered a little treat and got a cute little diploma. We were really pleased with the positive experience and he talked about it for days.
We were given some samples from the So Cozy Line. We’ve been using the Styling Gel in Groovy Grape. It’s alcohol free and very lightweight. Best of all, it has tamed my son’s cowlick, without making his hair all sticky. We also love the Boo Shampoo and Conditioner — which contains Tea Tree Oil, a natural lice and tick repellent. All So Cozy products are free of parabens.
