It’s been over a month since I brought you guys my Dell XPS 12 review and I wanted to give you a little update since I’ve spent more time using it.
In case you missed it the first time around, the Dell XPS 12 is a 2-in-1 laptop – meaning it serves as both a laptop and a tablet. you can detach the screen, the tablet piece (the computer) giving you plenty of options.
Here are some key features worth knowing:
It’s light – 1 3/4 lbs, to be precise. Which makes it feel pretty light compared to any other laptop you’re used to. Even with the keyboard, it seems like such an easy machine to tuck into my purse and take on the go (or on a plane with no problem).
Speed – despite being a light and easily portable machine, this laptop doesn’t give on power or speed. Having the 6th generational Intel Core m5 makes it feel like you’re working on a desktop.
Because it is portable and the keyboard detaches, you have the option of using the keyboard that comes with it or buying an even slimmer keyboard for travel. I have found myself using the slimmer keyboard more often than the keyboard that comes with it. The keyboard that it comes with does seem a bit fickle – if you buy one, you’ll find you have to move it back and forth a bit to get it to connect but once you do, it has a backlight keyboard and props itself up pretty nicely. Which is ideal for when you’re working late at night, as I often am, and want to have this on your laptop with the lights out.
Here’s your official keyboard descriptions from Dell’s website:
XPS 12 Premier Keyboard with Dell Premier Magnetic Folio For a traditional keyboard experience with full 1.9mm travel.
XPS Slim 12 Keyboard Slim design with 1.3mm travel and adjustable viewing angles up to 150 degrees
But my favorite part of this machine is the display. The optional UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD (3840×2160) touch display is beautiful. Even my husband has remarked at how sleek and sharp the display is. We’ll often stream Netflix or something late night on this and it’s just gorgeous.
