Growing old’s definitely not for sissies. The latest beauty I’ve had with turning 40 was finding out that I needed gum surgery. You guys don’t need to hear the details but as I sit here blogging, I’ve got 12 stitches in my mouth. Fun times. Recovery’s actually been a lot easier than I thought – besides a swollen cheek that looks like I’m a chipmunk storing for winter, life’s been pretty good. The only thing is food – I can’t chew.

I knew ahead of time that I’d be unable to chew so I thought I’d take the opportunity to get into making some smoothies. I went out and bought myself a Nutri Ninja Pro ($99) and looked around for a few smoothie recipes.

The one I’ve made twice now is this combination of a few recipes thanks to my friend Zareen.  It was delicious – and healthy!  The coconut water and pineapple make it nice and sweet and you get the punch of health from the banana, protein powder and spinach especially! This was breakfast yesterday and it was awesome and very filling.

Easy Green Smoothie

1 banana
1 cup of chunk pineapple
1-2 cups of spinach
scoop of protein powder
Coconut Water
Ice

Add it all together, mix up and enjoy!
