The first time I ever saw feather extensions in someone’s hair was last spring in the hair of Romy from Romy Raves. I remember thinking, wow those are totally awesome looking and I could never pull that look off at the same time.  It seemed so LA and so trendy and while I admired them, my conservative self figured it was not for me.

These days, the feather extension is becoming mainstream.  I see them all of the place now and I’m thinking about trying some  of these Sultra Feather Hair Accents – $25 at Sephora.com.  They’re clearly flying off the shelves – you can get them at Sephora but only one available right now is the Blaze, which looks cool but I may go pink!  What do you think?  Fun or not you?

  1. HUH??? ok i admit it- i am so not ‘with it’ with regard to the fashion world. . especially the hair fashion world. I have had the same hair style FOREVER and this chic lady aint achangin it ever.. . . . so now to the feather extenison issue.. … ..
I know nothing about them(your review is my first introduction to them) so i’ll have to google for more info. Your review is intriguing and has enticed me .be that as it may, knowing nothing about a subject hasn’t stopped me in the past about voicing my expert opinion about it. . . so here goes:
Instinct not knowledge tells me IF these are REAL feathers, there remains the question of how were they obtained . . did some animal have to suffer it’s demise or were the feathers naturally dropped and collected. ok sorry folks. . but had to ask.
second; IF they are obtained in a ‘good way, and the birds live happily ever after, then i admit they are intriguing and do look kinda fun. . . so why not?, i say. . . . try, it you might like it. . . .

  2. It might be trendy but you won’t be seeing me or any of my mom friends sporting them. Maybe on the younger set? I can easily picture the young single girls wearing them. But moms? Probably not or you might get it yanked out by a fussy baby or cranky toddler.

  3. Haha good point Kayce! Definitely not good for a Mom with a toddler who wants to yank at hair

  4. Nay! I do not like this at all! Some trends are great–all kinds of braids are really good right now–but this reminds of camp when I was a kid (and I didn’t even really like it then, either).

  5. Hahaha……..I like both

  6. OMG...REALLY?!?! says

I many be dating myself by saying this, but they remind me of the roach clips that all the potheads used to wear in their hair in the 80’s. Still kinda trashy looking if you ask me.

  8. Hey all~ I think if you feel you can pull it off then wear it! They’re not for everyone and I haven’t gone there yet BUT they’re quick in and quick out, inexpensive to try, and may be a fun addition to the mommy set. It’s a look that won’t last forever (probably not through this fall 😉 but what the hell! Its just like any other hair accessory–a clip, headband or even a (yikes) scrunchie.
