It’s that time of year again! The Kentucky Derby is less than two weeks away and happening the weekend of May 6th. While I’ll be down in Disney and not celebrating with any specific Derby party, I ended up shopping online for Derby hats when a friend was asking for some ideas. I was a little sad I didn’t have a reason to dress up this year.

I’ll admit that I’m not much into the actual horse race but it’sfun to get to play the part with a colorful dress andto getfunky with the hat.

So the first thing I wanted to say was that Amazon has an entire Kentucky Derby shop this year that has a ton of great hats and dresses if you want to shop with some broader options.

To start, if you can’t find anything you like, it’s very easy to dress up any hat and make it fitting for a Derby party. The hat I’m pictured in above was one I got at Target – it was almost completely plain with a thin pink ribbon around it. I accessories but getting a bunch of fun flower barrettes and feathers to make it more festive.

Already have your dress picked out? Match it with this Fanny Straw Kentucky Derby Hat (comes in about a zillion colors!)

Looking for a great budget option? I actually really love this Wide Brim Floppy – it’s really cute and it’s only $6.99! (!!) And there’s really no reason you can’t buy this hat and then hit Michael’s for bunch of fake flowers and to create a hat like this ($459, say WHAT?) for a lot less money.

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 6.43.03 PM Etsy also provides hundreds of options if you aren’t wanting to put together a hat yourself, and you can find many for a reasonable price. I like this black & white one above for $69.99. Or this one.

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 6.47.38 PM I found a lot of cute hats but searching on “Church hat” and not just “Kentucky Derby hat.” The prices also seem to come down with they aren’t labeled as Derby hats too. I like the shape of this 2-Tone Navy Crinolin Hat above from Overstock.

Looking beyond hats? Vineyard Vines has a Kentucky Derby shop for men and women and I love Lilly Pulitzer for Derbydressestoo.
