Ah, Southern California. While much of the rest of the country is experiencing snow, rain and temps well below 50°, here in SoCal it’s been in the mid-80s this last week. Still, the rain and cold will eventually show up here and so I’ve been busy playing dress up, planning out outfits to go with my Khombu rain boots.

Khombu Footwear is THE place to shop for your rain and winter footwear this year. They have a wide variety of boots for men, women and children that combine fashion, function and affordability. Ankle, calf, and knee length boot. Leather, suede and rubber boots. Slip-ons, lace-ups and zipper boots. Ones with furry cuffs and ones with fuzzy liners. You’re guaranteed to find a boot you’ll like and at prices you can afford.

Khombu sent over a pair of their Kaymen rainboots which are made of waterproof rubber come in 6 delicious colors from the subdued black and brown to the sassy silver and eggplant (the ones I’m sporting). These lightweight boots provide heavy-duty cold protection with a cold rating down to -20°F, a Thermolite footbed that contours to foot for ultimate comfort, and a non-slip traction bottom for extra stability. Plus there’s a 1.5 in. heel and a sexy snakeskin print in the boot’s 15 inch interior rise.

When our rain finally does show up, I’m looking forward to pairing my eggplant Kaymen’s with my skinny jeans, summer-dress-turned-fall-apparel with a layered long-sleeve T and a chunky scarf. Or maybe rocking them with some leggings, a belted shirt dress and puffy vest. (All items in the picture at right available at H&M; and speaking of, have you tried out their Fashion Studio where you can try on hundreds of their clothes, shoes, bags and accessories to create your perfect look? Love it.)

As for their comfort? As soon as the boots arrived, I slipped them on and then, as motherhood often goes, got totally distracted and ended up cooking dinner and vacuuming my living room in them. I only realized later that I’d done all that in the rainboots. So they are definitely comfortable.

Available at retailers nationwide and online, pick up a pair of Kaymen rainboots ($77-$85) for you and your budding fashionista ($59, children’s sizes 1-6). Also available online at Zappos or in store at Macy’s, Bloomingdales, & Nordstrom.

Disclaimer: Khombu Footwear provided a sample of these boots to facilitate the review, but the comments and feedback are my own.

  1. I do enjoy the manner in which you have presented this situation and it really does offer me a lot of fodder for thought. However, because of what I have observed, I just simply hope when other feedback stack on that men and women keep on point and in no way start upon a tirade regarding some other news of the day. Yet, thank you for this fantastic point and although I do not really go along with the idea in totality, I value the point of view.
