We picked up an iPad this last Christmas for our family and my first concern was keeping it safe while in the kids’ hands. I looked at a number of cases geared for kids, and while many of them looked like they would indeed keep the iPad safe, they didn’t always look like a case I’d want to be seen with. Neon colors. Huge foam padding. They loudly announced, “I HAVE CHILDREN. THEY USE MY iPAD.”

Enter the nüüd case from LifeProof. I love the name, and so far it has lived up to the claim.

The case is waterproof, snow-proof, dirt-proof and shock-proof. And it has a sleek and modern look that fits in just as well as while we wait at the doctor’s office as when I take it on a business trip. Safe for the kids and safe from the kids without looking like a kids’ case.

The problem with many cases is that the protection the case provided interferes with the functions of the device. Not with the LifeProof nüüd. The sound quality, access to buttons, charging and screen view are all excellent. There is no screen protector – hence the name nüüd since there is no barrier between you and the screen – but the top frame and backing provide enough protection that you can submerge the iPad in water and rinse it off if it gets dirty. (LifeProof does sell a compatible Zagg screen shield for those who want additional protection.)

cover LifeProof also sells a number of accessories for the nüüd case including a cover/stand which I highly recommend (shown above), a hand and shoulder strap and the LifeJacket that lets the iPad float – useful if you use your iPad on a boat. The LifeProof nüüd is available in two colors at Amazon, Best Buy or Lifeproof.com.

One case for you and the kids that protects your iPad from daily life. Love it.
