I love this! My favorite local meteorologist posted on Facebook about noticing one of these Little Free Libraryboxes in his neighborhood when he was out running the other day. I hadn’t heard of it so I was intrigued and checked out the website and I think this is fabulous.

It’s an on-your-honor take a book, return a book system. These little librariesare set up and you can check out where there may be one near you (they are all over the US!) The concept’s pretty simple.

Here is the mission statement of Little Free Library:

To promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations.

If you don’t have one near you, you can make your own libraryand set it up! You just have to register it with Little Free Library toregister to be a part of the charter and get the sign, which costs $40. They have some simple rules you need to adhere to when building your mailbox. Or you can order a library if you aren’t crafty. They start at $149.95 but I think trying to make one could be a cool family or community project.
