Whenever I’ve been in need of a snappy outfit, I’ve known to head for classic at Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft. A dress for a semi-formal, interview suits, casual picnics to formal evening events, even bridesmaids’ dresses, they’ve all been so easy to find with the classic style, fit and oh-so-reasonable price.
But during my pregnancies, I was stuck. I’d peek in at Ann Taylor dreaming that the classy cobalt blue shift dress would fit my round belly, wondering just how I would find an alternative.
Those of you pregnant in ’08 and beyond, consider yourselves back in class. Ann Taylor Loft has caught up with the maternity craze of its shoppers and introduced their own maternity line. I received my samples a few weeks ago and Saturday, while getting dressed to go out, actually grabbed the top, just to see if it wouldn’t be too big. On my non-preggo body, it was, but on your pregnant body, you would have looked devine.
Haven’t seen or touched it yet? Its the same fine quality of ATLoft items. The same thickness in material you’ve come to expect. And just as well made. If the outfit I have didn’t have room for a belly, I’d expect to see it on a mannequin in a Loft store. (and if you have a ATLoft store with Maternity, you probably will!)
The fit is very true to size–you shouldn’t have to venture beyond your regular AT size, XXS to XXL (aka 00 to 18). Colors this season at Ann Taylor Loft are bright and springy: lots of bright pinks, some blues, greens and purples, and many blacks, whites and browns. And as with most Ann Taylor Loft clothing, the maternity line is very mixy-matchy, so its a great value when you can get 5 pieces and have about 8 outfits.
Maternity is currently only available in some of the Ann Taylor Loft stores (one near me–wahoo for all my pregnant friends!) Of course, you can also find it online. And, get this, you’ll get free standard shipping on all orders of $100 or more, no coupon necessary. So you don’t even need a maternity store near by. Better yet, Ann Taylor is offering their first ever Friends and Family promotion: 25% off today through Sunday, April 20: Use code 10701100 or print out this coupon for in store savings. The coupon can be used for Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Ann Taylor Loft Maternity and Ann Taylor Factory Store.
They also have a lot of cute maternity clothing on sale–like a sleeveless dress for $49.99 (originally $74) and my very cute top for $29.99 (originally $49.00).

Comments

  1. While their clothes might be decent, a lot of the information listed above is false. There are NO stores that carry the maternity line, so there’s no opportunity to try them on or see that it’s the quality/style you’re looking for. Additionally they charge you $10 in shipping PLUS an additional $8 in return shipping, so you’re in essence paying nearly $20 just to try on their clothes. The descriptions on the website are not entirely accurate and really don’t give you a sense for weight of fabric or how it will fall on your body, and their customer service is awful. I recently ordered a bunch of stuff and the clothes arrived completely different than how they were pictured online. They refused to refund my shipping, even though they are currently running a free ship promo and my order was only $1 less than the required amount and I was clearly very dissatisfied with the product! Pregnant moms have enough stresses! Don’t give yourself another one by shopping at a store that clearly has no understanding of maternity wear!
