Probably torturing myself by sharing this one today but the pictures are just so beautiful and drool-worthy that I couldn’t help it. Everyone who knows my story and knows from yesterday that I’m currently doing a juice cleanse & detox can get a good chuckle out of my chocolate cake share today!
This one comes from a friend and looks phenomenal. Great for a family treat or to bring to a party!
Chocolate Cake w/Buttercream Icing
Ingredients for cake:
1 3/4 Cups Flour
1 1/2 Cups White Sugar
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
1.5 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1.5 Teaspoons Baking Soda
1.5 Teaspoons Table Salt
1 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Large Eggs
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Water
Ingredients for Icing:
1 Stick Butter, very soft but not melted
2 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
1/2 Cup Cocoa Powder
1/2 Cup Milk (keep more on hand if icing is too thick)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together your flour, sugars, cocoa, baking powder, soda, and salt in one bowl. In another, combine the milk, oil, eggs and vanilla.

Slowly add your wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
Once everything has been well combined, add one cup of boiling water.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
While cake is baking, make your buttercream frosting.
Make very sure your butter is extremely soft but not melted.
Combine all ingredients for frosting, mixing very slowly until it has been well incorporated. If frosting is seeming too thick, add one tablespoon extra milk at a time.
You may begin frosting your cake as soon as it has had a chance to cool completely.

No, No, no. looks terrible. so unappetizing. this is your mantra. keep saying that, over and over. . . . .
