Did you catch the Royal Wedding this morning?  Who set their alarm?  I wasn’t going to set my alarm but since I already get up early I knew I’d be able to catch a good part of it.  I had the tv on by 6:15, just as William & Kate were exchanging vows.

Of course what I really wanted to see was her dress.  What did you guys think?  I loved it.  My personal taste in wedding dresses is for them to be classic and elegant without much fanfare.  I think Kate couldn’t go totally plain as she is a Princess and all, so I think this dress was a perfect choice for her.  It’s still simple yet grand with the design and lace top.  She looked beautiful.

I still remember Charles and Diana’s wedding.  I watched it with my Mom and Aunt and I remember thinking what a beautiful princess Diana was.  So sad that their marriage and her life ended so tragically.  I hope that William and Kate have a happier fate together.

And was anyone else shocked at how old Prince Charles looked?  That man has not aged well since the last photo I saw of him.

  1. Mom/MomMom says

Not enraptured by it but thought it certainly appropriate and tasteful for the royal occasion. Simple veil. NIce.
And, Kate is a lovely young woman. She handled the day with aplomb.
Now, I really really liked Pippa’s dress best however. . .talk about ”simply elegant’.
However, Kate’s choice was best for a ‘princess’ and certainly not like Diana’s which was way over the top(that was way too much)

  2. I was up early and watched a lot of the lead-up. Unfortunately I had to get ready for work and missed a good bit, but my DVR was set and I’ll watch it this evening when I get home.

I thought she looked beautiful. I think the thing will William is that (and I don’t know about you) but I remember pictures of him with his parents when he was such a small guy, and the iconic images of he and Harry walking behind their mother’s casket with Earl Spencer, and that’s kind of how we’ve remembered them.

Now he’s a grown, married man who unfortunately inherited the male pattern baldness gene from his father and grandfather. It wasn’t so noticeable when he had the hat on, but with hat off, the wee spot seemed to shine. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a handsome man.

I’ve loved Kate’s style since she hit the spotlight. I’m not surprised she went for a more traditional, classic style with a bit of a twist. McQueen was a fabulous choice.

  3. Loved it. Reminded me of Grace Kelly’s dress. Kate looked beautiful and elegant in that dress.

  4. At first glance, I was disappointed in her dress. It seemed very boring and old fashion for a young bride. But then it grew on me a little. Very timeless and classic but nothing to rave about since it was a bit of a copy on Prince Kelly’s design.
Kate would look great in anything due to her height and slender figure.
