I think we can officially say we’re heading into fall territory with fashion trends based on the weather.  We still have high temps during the day here in Philly but the other day at my son’s soccer game I actually had to get a fleece out!  It’s coming, people!

I do love the fall for fashion.  I don’t love that it means that winter is coming but I will take advantage of the gorgeous days and crisp cooler air with my clothes.

What I love about fall clothes is their versatility.  There are fall clothes and looks but you can also totally make some of your summer clothes work well into the fall with just a few adjustments.

I bought this sun isle dress at Madewell this summer on sale – it’s on even bigger sale now.  $39.99 (down from $138!)  It’s definitely a trendy color & style because check out this dress that JCREW showcased on the runway at New York Fashion Week this week – looks similar!

So I love the peacock color because it’s a year round color.  In fact, I noticed yesterday that it was one of the 3 color picks for the fall from Stitch Fix in their email:

Anyway.  So point is, it’s a good year round color!  But let’s get to it.  How to make it into a fall outfit:

A jean jacket!  This one is cute and on sale, Style & Co $49.99 at Macys.com

And with a pair of boots!  I love these Frye Celia X Stitch Boots, $258.70 at 6pm.com.  I’ll tell you guys, I know those are expensive, even for boots but my absolute FAVORITE pair of boots is a pair of Frye boots and I must have worn them 100 times which totally justifies the price, I think!  At least that’s what I tell myself. 😉

Anyway, boots are great for the transition to fall because you can pretty much take any skirt or dress and make them more fall-friendly with a tall pair of boots.

And then it gets even colder, your dress with tights and boots will take you all the way into the winter!

You can also add a scarf to any dress.  I like the idea of a neutral or fall color scarf going over some of the brighter summer clothes.  This Colorblock Scarf (Banana Republic, $53; coupon code BRYAY40 for 40% off through 9/13) is a nice neutral color that would tone down anything extra summery and the addition of a scarf just feels more fall!

Here’s another outfit converted into fall from summer pieces:

Really, anything you wore this summer can probably turn around and be used well into the fall with just the add on of some of these items mentioned! Remember: jean jacket (think beyond just denim-colored too!), boots, scarf and tights are all great pieces to transition!
