I have to admit, I’m not a fan of 3D in general.  When we take the kids to the movies, I go out of my way to find the non 3D movie because it hurts my eyes.

Apparently I’m the only one in the family because lately my kids have been not only asking to go to the 3D movies but they have been loving playing with our Nintendo 3DS ($169.99 with free shipping at Amazon).

The latest from Nintendo, you do have to buy specific games to work in 3D on the 3Ds. (We tried our regular DS games and they don’t fit)  But it’s pretty neat and on the right side of the screen is a slider where you can adjust your level of 3D — from none, if you’re like me and can’t handle the display, to extreme 3D.

It also has some cool parental controls so you can adjust the 3D for younger players. (3D is recommended for only ages 7 and up)

Disclaimer: Nintendo provided me with a 3Ds to facilitate this review.

  1. I just want to add that regular DS games do fit and are playable, just can’t play them in 3d. My 3 boys have these and love being able to play all their old games and the new 3d. I do use parental controls and turn off the 3d completely.
