With all the Covid restrictions, Whitney and I have been doing a lot of running and playing tennis these past few months. I don't know if it's the increase in exercise or turning 40, but my shin splints and lower back have been giving me some pain. Dr. Scholl's has always been my go to for shoe inserts, but I mainly used them for my high heels. … [Read more...]

One of my favorite parts of running a race is getting to wear something fun and a little crazy the day of the event. I know a lot of people aren't into it but I'm not fast so for me, I love the whole experience of running a race - beyond just the running. I love to people watch what others choose to wear and to wear a little something fun when I'm … [Read more...]

On Saturday, my husband and I completed the Hot Chocolate 15k in Philadelphia. (That's 9.3 miles.) The only other big run I've done was the Broad Street Run in 2013 (10 miles). Running Broad Street is sort of thing here in Philly if you are a runner but now after running the Hot Chocolate race, I realize why I wasn't a fan. Broad Street is … [Read more...]
So I recently joined a local running group. I've been aware of their group on Facebook for the better part of the year because I have a bunch of friends who are members and their posts would always pop up on my feed and I always thought they seemed like an awesome group. I don't really know what took me so long to join but after a friend in the … [Read more...]
A recent pitch informed me that the Color Me Rad Race is coming to Philadelphia. Woo! There are certainly other color runs but the only other one I know going on this summer is on a weekend we're out of town. I have never had a chance to do one before and always wanted to, but they definitely seem like something you need to do with family and/or … [Read more...]

As I write this, pretty much every muscle in my legs aches in some small way. I ran 10 miles yesterday at the Broad Street Run in Philadelphia! I've seriously been wanting to be able to type or say that for years and never had the guts to sign up but did it this year. And I am so happy to report that I crossed the finish line and that I … [Read more...]

Yesterday morning, as I was running my 9 mile training run, some 26K+ people began running the Boston Marathon. No easy feat to even get in, they have to qualify just to cross the start line. As a runner, I am in awe of those people. Training to run a 10 mile race has not been easy and I can't even fathom going 26.2. They are running … [Read more...]

It's entirely possible my legs won't function tomorrow, but right now I'm feeling pretty good because I just got back from an 8 mile run. (!!!!!!! WOO!) This is the longest I've gone to date and I've really been slacking with the Broad Street Run training. So much, in fact, that I've really been starting to doubt my ability to do it at all. … [Read more...]
