Happy to report that I finished my first race of 2013 this morning!  I ran the St. Patrick's Day 5k here in West Chester. I definitely wasn't out to beat any records today as 8 am was feeling pretty early as I got ready to go and I almost didn't make it. But I got motivated since my friend Jo-Lynne was headed down too and I had a nice run in the … [Read more...]

So it's been a couple of weeks since I got the news that I got into the Broad Street Run here in Philadelphia. (See where I freaked out upon receiving the news!)  I've been slowly training, although not as much as I would have liked. Some of it has been the weather.  It's just so hard to go several times a week for several miles at the gym. … [Read more...]

Over Presidents Day weekend, the fam & I took a trip to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick, PA. I had never been before and boy did we score big! Not only do all of the stores have fab outlet prices, but we picked the right weekend to go - nearly every store was having additional clearance sales for Presidents Weekend. Like seriously, … [Read more...]

This is me this morning. FREAKING MY YOU-KNOW-WHAT out because I got the email that I have officially gotten into the lottery to Broad Street Run (10 miles, Center City in Phila.  The run everyone does if you live in Philly and call yourself a runner.) Oh and yes, you read that right - you have to apply to a lottery to be ACCEPTED to go and run … [Read more...]

So I'm stretching for Kettlebells class this morning and I turned to my BFF Zareen and was like, O-M-G I don't have a post up today.  I've literally been failing on getting my morning posts up here because as I've been saying lately, I'm too busy doing social media stuff to blog.  Ironic, right?  I always find that funny: the Mom blogger who is … [Read more...]

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a conversation going on over on Twitter with a bunch of Fitfluential Ambassadors. They were challenging themselves and the online community to run 13 in 2013. At first, I thought it meant running a half marathon but when I clicked over, I loved the challenge even more when I realized that wasn't it - it's 13 … [Read more...]

Yesterday I ran an awesome event - the Mothers Day 5k here in my hometown of West Chester, PA. The proceeds from the race go to Mommy's Light, which is a fabulous local organization that helps the children of Mothers who have passed away from cancer. They work to keep traditions alive with these kids after their mother's passing and it's really a … [Read more...]

Okay runners, I need some advice. All of my life I've been a casual runner. I suppose you can say I've increased my speed in a bit in recent years but I'm still pretty slow. And I don't go too terribly far when I do run - the most I've ever run is a 5-mile loop I used to do regularly when I lived in San Francisco and it took me an hour to run it … [Read more...]

So I ran a 5k over Easter Weekend. The Butterfly Run is in honor of a girl my sister went to high school with several years back. In 1999, a drunk driver got driving on a local highway going in the wrong direction. It's a horrible tragedy as a girl was killed as a result. The Butterfly Run is in her honor and I've always wanted to run it as … [Read more...]
