Half of my heritage is Irish. We’re talking off the boat Irish – pale white skin, freckles and I’m the lucky descendant who looks white like the Ghostbusters ghost white.

Luckily, I also got a bit of a mix from my Dad’s side so I can get a nice tan on in the summer. Which means, my winter skin looks PALE. So pale that this winter, one friend at the gym asked me if I was sick because my skin was so white. (Awkward moment when I answered, “Nope, thanks, that’s just my skin color!”)

The truth is, I DO look kind of sick when I haven’t seen the sun in ages. One reason makeup is my friend, and also why I was excited to work with Jergens on this campaign with their Natural Glow product!

I’ll be using the product for the next few weeks and updating you on how it goes! In the meantime, today’s my first post and we are talking tanning mishaps.

I’ve actually never used a tanning cream so I don’t have a good tanning cream woe. But I have a lot of pale skin “what’s wrong with Whitney” stories and I’m sure many of you can relate!

Just so you get a little bit of an idea and don’t think I’m exaggerating – check this out.

This is a picture of me this January 2013.  There’s no denying I’m really fair-skinned, right?

Here’s one from a couple of years ago at Epcot – again, fair skinned, yes?  I actually had a hard time finding a lot of photos with me in it and with my true winter skin – because I hate it so much I obviously don’t share a lot of photos!

Alternatively, there’s this:

This is me with a tan.  This is definitely a photo where I’m looking extra tan, but honestly, I look like this, or like the photo below it for most of the summer.  I don’t burn as I use high SPF but over the course of a summer I can get a nice healthy glow.

This one is especially more accurate of my summer face.

I’m not saying I expect to look like this in the winter but I really don’t want to have people asking me if I’m sick.  Hence, finding a healthy option to get a little color into my skin with Jergens Natural Glow.  I’ll report back in a few months to let you guys know how it’s going!

NEW Jergens® Natural Glow Moisturizer provides the same great, natural-looking color but without the sunless tanner odor!
