Last Saturday, Colleen and I hosted our 6th Mom Mixer, a social media event for bloggers and brands in Philadelphia. I always feel a little like a proud Mama in the days following our events – it’s always such a big to-do and it’s a fabulous feeling to have pulled off another successful one.
In my mind, it’s successful when the brands are happy the the Moms have fun and it seemed to be the case over the weekend so I’m in my post-event glow for the next few days!
I’m sure it will take me days, if not weeks, to get my ducks in a row and bring you guys pictures and reviews of everything fabulous I saw and learned there but wanted to give a quick recap with some photos today while the iron’s still hot.
Our title sponsor was Mabel’s Labels. I’ve been a fan of theirs for years – we only use their labels for family labeling. My favorite product of theirs are the Personalized Name Stickers ($21 for a sheet of 45). I literally put these on everything my kids take to school and the sheets last a long time! We got a sneak peek at some of their holiday goodies and I can’t wait to share once it’s all available. They are going to have some adorable & affordable holiday return labels.
McDonald’s brought a Posey Booth for fun instant photos – this photo is of my husband Jon and son Cole monkeying around. The big deal with McDonald’s this week is that starting October 6th, they will be offering All Day Breakfast. Meaning you can get your hash browns and Egg McMuffin at 10 pm at night if you are so inclined! Feel like that would have come in handy when I was in college at 2 am… 😉
Stride Rite was showcasing all sort of cutie shoe designs but the highlight was the pair of shoes on the top left – a limited edition Father and Son pair of Star Wars shoes. These were one of the HOT topics of Mom Mixer – everyone as wanting a pair! They will be available on StrideRite.com only and there will only be 1000 of them sold starting TODAY at 10 am- once the duo is posted, they are sure to sell out fast so get ready if you want a pair!
Net Nanny is a MUST HAVE for any one with kids living in today’s digital world. I am really jazzed up about this one and plan on getting it on my boys computers and iPads. Net Nanny is the #1-rated parental controls software that protects your family from pornography, online predators, cyberbullying, and much more, keeping your family safe online. They have 20% off right now – check it out on their website!
Dream On Me came and gave away these BEAUTIFUL cribs, toddler bed and strollers to some very lucky attendees! Dream On Me makes baby & kid furniture and I’m especially partial to the cribs which I thought were just beautiful. Loved the simple design and how FUN are the colors?!?
Just Play Toys attends most years and they always have one of the most popular booths. One of this year’s most popular toys of theirs is this Ultimate Olaf – he dances around and is just adorable! They also have a Puppy In Your Pocket toy thatI’ll feature later this week that would make a fabulous stocking stuffer this season.
Hasbro was our other toy brand and what’s not to love by Hasbro? I’ll feature more of their new goodies this week but my boys were totally into these Transformer Rescue Bots.
Johnson’s Baby came with their fabulous brands but also with some makeup so Moms could touch up their own makeup during a little break while walking around Mom Mixer. All of our attendees took home goodies from Johnson’s Baby. (We still use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo even though my boys are older – I’m obsessed with the smell!)
Merck Manual came – are you familiar with them? I thought everyone was but apparently it wasn’t the norm to have a Merck Manual growing up. We totally did! Every time anyone got sick in our house, my Mom was pulling one of these out (photos are two that my parents still had – my Dad texted them to me yesterday!) to look up an ailment. Well Merck Manual is still around but of course they have adapted to the times and the 2015 version is a very extensive searchable database online that you can find at MerckManual.com.
The Christmas Pickle is a new book but timeless tradition you may have heard of. This book & kit set can be found on Amazon for $29.99 and encourages giving rather than receiving on Christmas.
The best smelling booth by far was the Young Living Essential Oils booth, which had a diffuser going off during our event with Lavender! More and more people talk about using essential oils for many reasons these days so I can’t wait to check this out as I’ve ordered my own Starter Pack.
One of my favorites always is the Stella & Dot booth with my good friend Jen. I have always loved their jewelry and have an exciting post sharing more news about them later this week.
And our host for the day was the Franklin Institute, which is a fabulous science museum in downtown Philadelphia for those of you who aren’t from the area, or who aren’t familiar. They gave all of our attendees entrance into the museum for the day and passes to the new Sports Zone exhibit which is opening on October 24th.
Huge thanks to my husband and boys for always being my extra support – I couldn’t get it all done without them there!
And I almost forgot to mention that KYW/CBS Local came and covered our event? That was exciting for sure. Friends have been texting that they have been hearing bits from on the radio throughout the week since Mom Mixer and you can find the online article on the CBS Philly website here.
Certainly looks like a fun time was had by all, attendees as well as sponsors. Job well done, Whitney and Colleen.
Looks like a totally successful event!!! Congratulations on a job well-done!!! Will have to get back onto the Stella and Dot website. That gold necklace hanging next to the pearl necklace needs a home here at my house!!!
We had a great time! The Christmas Pickle was one of my favorite displays – brings back memories of searching for a pickle when I was a kid!
