This was my second foray into using Trunk Club. Trunk Club is a clothing service; basically they set you up with a personal shopper and she does your clothing shopping for you. It’s similar to Stitch Fix– if you guys are familiar with that one -but it’s a little more involved in that it’s more personal: a phone call or email exchange with your stylist and a more in-depth questionnaire really allow them to hone in on specifics surrounding your fashion interests and your style.

The service is free of charge. You receive a Trunk Club box, try on the clothes and return what you don’t want. You have five days to decide and you pay for what you keep.

The first time I used Trunk Club back in April wasn’t exactly a hit for me. Some of the stuff was okay but nothing really stood out for me and the prices were pretty steep. I ended up sending my whole box back and hadn’t really thought to use them again.

But then I received an email that I had a new stylist – Kelsey had replaced my old stylist – and I thought I’d give a second box another go.

This box was much more successful and I attribute it to giving Kelsey some more feedback, like, please send some more affordable options and some fall looks.

By the way, almost all of these items are available at Nordstrom and around the same prices you would find in-store. I did look up pricing to compare – most of the time it was exactly the same with an odd shirt or two being on sale at Nordstrom. So I do think it’s a pretty nifty service and there doesn’t appear to be an upcharge.

Many of us are busy Moms so if you’re lacking the time to shop, it’s nice to have someone else going out and picking things out for you. Easy peasy.

Using a personal shopper also get you to try some items on that you wouldn’t normally pick out for yourself. It’s good to get pushed outside of your comfort zone every once in awhile and I find I can sometimes discover a really cool piece when through these types of services.

This is the Pleoine Crepe V-Neck Tank, which as you can see is also at Nordstrom.com. I thought it was okay but the pattern wasn’t for me so I am sending it back.

I adored this Treasure & Bond Drapey Plaid Shirt but I thought it was just a little too big! Maisie got into being a part of the photos when I was wearing this particular shirt so you can’t see how much it really poofs out. The instant Jon called it a maternity shirt on me, I was out.

I’m actually tempted to order this in a smaller size from Nordstrom. To be fair to Trunk Club on this one too: after a summer of gluttony & debauchery, I updated my top sizing to one size bigger thinking nothing would fit. Apparently I’m still the size I was even though I feel bigger. I’m such a girl.

The black jeans in the picture are Joe’s Flawless Twiggy Skinny Regan’s and they are fantastic. I am keeping them despite the fact that they are a tad long. I am hoping I will take them in to get hemmed just a little shorter but they are a perfect fit and such a great fall staple. I didn’t have black jeans so I was happy these worked out so nicely.

You can see them a bit better in this next photo:

Again, the jeans are great but I really am not a fan of turtlenecks. I hate things on my neck and this one above was no exception. Maybe this fall I can find one I like…

This Carlson Burnout sweatshirt is the comfiest thing EVER. It was big and baggy and I was tempted to keep it for a fat pants on the couch kind of day but as I was already keeping several items already, I decided to send it back.

This photo’s alsoa good shot ofthe BP Trott Bootie– love the gray suede and keeping these.

This Eliza J dress is a perfect example of something I would never pick out for myself. The colors are great and align with the type of dress I normally wear but the print’s kind of modern so I don’t think I would have pulled this off the shelf. I put it on and thought it was really fun!

Sadly I’m not keeping this dress simply because I was keeping so many other items and I also felt like it was more of a spring/summer item but I may have to see if it’s still around next spring.

Last but not least: I got a couple of t-shirts in the box too. Here’s two of them. Some were a little big and some just didn’t do it for me, but I kept this olive-colored one on the right by Madewell. I’m also wearing the Paige Transcend Verdugo Skinny Jeans in the photo on the right. It was good timing on these as my last darker pair of skinny jeans ripped at the end of last winter (strategically placed right on my booty which happened at home and amused my boys greatly). Wasn’t planning on buying Paige brand but dang they were perfect so I got sucked into buying these too.

So yah, it’s not cheap and I probably spent more than I should have. But the nice thing about Trunk Club is that they have a referral program – you don’t have to be a blogger to do this – sign up and then you’ll get your own referral URL. If you friends join and buy, you get a discount on your next box. {That’s my referral code! Thanks to anyone who uses it if you are considering signing up!}

If you’re willing to give it a go, sign up and try it out. There’s no cost so it’s worth a shot:Trunk Club. Use my link and you’ll get hooked up with my stylist Kelsey, who did a rockin’ job picking out for me this time!
