My boys don’t know it yet, but they are going to be getting an Xbox 360 w/Kinect for Christmas this year! I’ve been wanting to get them one forever and this year especially, Nate (8) has been asking over and over again.
So I was thrilled when I won one at a blogging event this summer! It’s taking all of my willpower not to give it to them yet and I’m the process of checking out and testing out games for them to go along with the gift!
One of the things that’s new to Xbox that I didn’t really get was this new 2-Way TV experience. Have you guys heard about it? Using the Kinect, you can now interact with tv via the 2-Way TV experience.
Kids can play with the new Sesame Street and Nat Geo games where they can turn on both of those tv shows and interact with actual real episodes of the show. It’s not like you’re playing a game and it’s not like you’re watching tv, it’s a bit of a combo and the user controls how much they want to interact. There are on-screen instructions that tell you how to interact and what to do but the user can also sit down and choose to just watch the show and not interact at various parts if they would like.
The Kinect Sesame Street game especially is a great one for small children. Kids can interact with Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster while they watch episodes of Sesame Street. Such a fun family activity?
And I know that Nate, my resident National Geographic guru, is going to love Kinect Nat Geo TV where he’ll be able to watch educational episodes and interact and engage.
If you have an Xbox w/Kinect (or are thinking of getting one), then check out these 2-way TV games – definitely a hot pick for the holiday season!
