So last week I definitely had some indecision about what to wear to the CAbi scoop down in Nashville. (See more about it on my “Cowboys & Fab Clothes: Fun in Nashville with CAbi“) Not only was I traveling to a convention with a bunch of fashion savvy clothing consultants, but I knew my peer Mom blogger counterparts would undoubtedly come looking trendy and cute. As I consider myself somewhat seasoned when it comes to attending blogging events and conferences, I’m finding more and more that it’s just important to be me and wear what reflects my style more than anything else. When I do that, I’m happy and comfortable.
I actually already had several CAbi pieces in my wardrobe which then lent itself to the question: Do I wear mostly CAbi or will I look like a total tool who is trying to hard if I do that?
In the end, this is what I settled on for the two evening events. I like to be casual and comfortable but still err on the side of dress casual, especially when I’m attending something work related. And I was really happy. Everyone brings their own style to the table and the older I get, the happier I am when my style reflects me and not what I think others will like.
Day One I wore gray dress pants from the Gap, black dress heels from Lands End, a traditional white button down from Ann Taylor and then I dressed it up with one of my favorite CAbi pieces, this calf-length gray lace sweater that ties in the front.
I also wore this Coin Necklace from Stella & Dot which gets comments every time I wear it:
Day Two Did I mention how freezing the hotel was? Like, my fingers were numb as I walked around kind of freezing. We were at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel which is a huge open air hotel with lots of space and it was unseasonably cold for Nashville outside but I guess they didn’t feel like they needed to crank the heat. So as I was pretty uncomfortable and knew we were going somewhere cold for dinner, I actually changed up what I was wearing that night for dinner. It wasn’t as dressy but I was comfortable and warm! I was going to wear dressy brown boots but ended up going with my Chocolate Short Uggs and was so glad I did. I know this photo’s a little tougher to see but I’m wearing a brown stretch dress from the Gap with brown tights (Also from the Gap) and then a light blue jacket from Nordstrom that is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I wasn’t going to wear the jacket but as it was freezing I wanted to layer up and I thought it gave it all a cute look.
I am in need of finding someone who sels CAbi in the West Chester area – any idea who is a rep for their clothes? I have lost all my reps…
thanks!
Jen – someone from Exton Moms Club who I don’t know was supposedly there in Nashville and she actually lives in D-town. She emailed about having a trunk show at her house soon so when I get the info and I’ll pass it along. Maybe we can go together and grab a drink!
Right on Whitney!!!! You can be trendy but comfortable at the same time!!!
You did a fine job in your selections for the evening events. Looking both smart and comfy- a perfect combo, I say!
