Woodloch
Last week I mentioned that my family has been taking various trips around the state of Pennsylvania this summer, exploring great family destinations and creating awesome vacation memories. Our first trip was to Woodloch, an amazing all-inclusive family resort in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, very close to New York state. (Here is a quick link to a slideshow of photos from our trip)
From the minute we arrived to the time we left, we were treated like we were part of the Woodloch family, with friendly smiles and attentive service. The owners of Woodloch personally meet and greet each person multiple times during your stay and truly make you feel like you have known them for years.
Beyond the amazing hospitality, we couldn’t get over how peaceful and beautiful this place is, with its incredible lake, beautiful trees and trails, and spacious, nicely appointed rooms and suites. The meals were delicious and plentiful, in a very homey and comfortable dining room. Finally, everyone there, from toddlers to grandparents, can stay as relaxed or as busy as they choose, with the vast amount of activities happening all throughout the day.
Each morning at breakfast we got a schedule of activities for the day (I loved this! It was fun to sit at breakfast and figure out our day!). There was SO much for our boys (ages 4 ½ and 2) to do (as well as tons of things for kids of all ages). We spent the weekend playing in the indoor water park, outdoor pool and lake, on paddle boats and on a scenic boat cruise, playing in the awesome Woodloch forest (an indoor play zone), in the arcade, in the arts and crafts and toddler rooms, on the go-carts and bumper boats, lots of mini-golf, on the playgrounds, and biking on beautiful nature
trails. There are also scheduled activities throughout the day, similar to a cruise ship, like Bingo, “double-dare”, hayrides, scavenger hunts, tennis contests, great evening shows, comedians, and nightclub entertainment, and much more. I especially loved the Boomer Cub Club, a special kids club for 6 and under with scheduled kids activities appropriate for littler ones, as well as the character meet-and-greets before each and every meal. The kids were so excited to meet and have their picture taken with Elmo, Scooby Doo, Winnie the Poo, Poke-Mon, and many other characters.
My family LOVED this place. My kids were crying when we had to leave (and I almost was too.) It was such a great mix of peace and relaxation with entertainment and fun, and of course, lots of eating with awesome food. Though the majority of guests were from the East Coast, there were a number of large family groups from places in the Midwest who make it their annual tradition to come to Woodloch.
I can’t recommend enough to make your next family vacation at Woodloch regardless of the time of year (it’s a 4-season resort with tons to do in the cold weather too!) or where you live. For those of you in the New York, Philly, Baltimore or DC areas, coming to Woodloch is an easy and enjoyable (scenic) trip. Woodloch is certainly deserving of it’s recognition as “on of the top family resorts in America” by Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, and Parents Magazine. And I also love the fact that it is a green resort, too!
Also noteworthy – Woodloch’s sister property, The Lodge at Woodloch, is an INCREDIBLE (and I mean, truly amazing) destination spa. One of Travel + Leasure, Conde Nast Traveler and TripAdvistors top spas in the World, The Lodge is definitely a place I would highly recommend for a girls getaway vacation or couples vacation. Extremely tranquil with amazing services, classes, food, and views, it feels like you are a world away.
This family-owned, family-friendly all-inclusive property will definitely see our family again. We would love to make it an annual tradition to visit and can’t wait to schedule our next trip! Check out our photos from the trip!
